Daphna Laurens collaborated with BYBORRE to develop a unique upholstery fabric that reflects the studio’s design philosophy — combining refined simplicity with a playful visual character. The project was realised using BYBORRE’s Create™ digital design tool, which enabled experimentation with form, pattern, and process in new ways.

Unlike more automated or algorithm-driven processes, the textile was developed through a highly intentional and tactile method. Each ‘pixel’ of the pattern was hand‑clicked, giving the design a distinctive rhythm that balances spontaneity with control. This approach allowed Daphna Laurens to explore a more intuitive way of working within a digital environment while maintaining a direct connection to material and craft.

In addition to its aesthetic qualities, the fabric is ideal for upholstering. Because the design has no directional pattern or strict repetition, pieces can be cut and applied without worrying about alignment, eliminating mistakes and making the upholstery process much easier.

The result is a fabric that unifies refined simplicity with visual sparkle, bringing a fresh and expressive layer to furniture surfaces. It represents a fusion of the physical and the digital — where thoughtful design decisions shape the pattern as much as the digital tool itself.
